Scope & Services
SOS is a specialized mental health services program offering both treatment and case management services. People who participate in the program are initially transported from the referring emergency department or designated 5150 facility to the SOS facility where they can spend the night safely with access to meals and shower. They can spend time with peers in the community room and have the additional support from experienced staff.
The following morning, clients are transported either to their requested local designation or to our clinic location where they receive a full range of services from both clinicians and case managers. Staff work with clients to ensure they have current assessments, plans of care and case management with goals of linkage to ongoing mental health programs and services offered by community partners and full service providers. Clients with an open 90-day placement can continue to access a comfortable living room to spend the weekdays with office hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and can utilize our separate SOS Specialty Mental Health Clinic location as a safe place to relax in a comfortable supportive environment with access to individual and group therapeutic services and on-going case management.
- Provide a safe, supportive environment to spend the night for individuals who arrive at an ER with a mental health condition needing services that don't require a legal hold
- Case Management and transportation to ensure client engagement with outpatient mental health services.
- Linkages to outpatient mental health programs and supportive services such as housing, food stamps, general assistance, and SSI
