WestCare California, Inc.’s HomeFront VA Grant Per Diem (GPD) program provides safe and supportive gender-responsive housing services to female Veterans experiencing homelessness with or without dependent children. Services are provided so that women can achieve housing stability, increase their skill levels and income, and become self-sufficient as they prepare to transition to permanent housing.

Scope & Services
Services provided at HomeFront include supportive housing up to 24 months, comprehensive assessments, case management, life skills, crisis intervention, counseling and linkages to the VA and other community support services. The VA and other community support services are essential in addressing the multifaceted needs of women Veterans. These needs include valuable military training not being immediately transferable to civilian jobs, physical disabilities, stress related illness, mental health and SUD, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault and loss of social and family ties. Veterans with income pay a portion of their rent, never to exceed 30% of monthly income.
